History

Golden Light Cafe says fourth owner Marc Reed added the Cantina in 1996 beside the 1946 Route 66 burger counter. The Austin Chronicle reported in 2002 that Reed cut a door into the next-door space in 1997 and began booking Texas songwriters, including Joe Ely and the Robison brothers, in the small music room. The cafe's site calls the Cantina Amarillo's premier live-music room for national and local acts. Songkick lists it at 2906 SW Sixth Avenue.
