The Amarillo Globe-News reported that lawyer Patrick Swindell opened the Esquire Jazz Club on December 27, 2017, at 626 S. Polk Street, in the old Woolworth Building that had housed the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, where he had practiced. The club booked jazz most nights until Swindell closed it in December 2019 after about two years. A 2026 concert listing still uses the street address as the room name.
