History
Downtown San Jose dive at 98 S. Almaden Avenue. It began as one of a chain of cocktail lounges inside Greyhound stations; after Greyhound put the bar out, Leo Chargin moved it in 1964 into a former used-car lot at San Fernando and Almaden. It still books free rock, punk, funk, comedy, and burlesque, and Gary Singh’s Metro columns record jazz in the room as far back as the 1960s.
