History
The Jinx was the rock club at 127 W. Congress St. Connect Savannah’s July 8, 2020, farewell traced the room to the 1990s vintage shop Velvet Elvis, run by Laura DiNello and later by Sarah Wood and Jorge Cuartas, and to Susanne Guest Warnekros, who opened The Jinx in 2003 and was evicted in 2020 after about 17 years. Savannah Now reported that on June 8, 2023, City Council voted 8–1 for a special-use permit at 2602 Whitaker St. in Starland. Savannah Agenda reported on September 7, 2026, that Warnekros had dropped the reopening, citing permit delays, construction costs, health, break-ins, and rent, and that a reunion was being planned for March at another room.
