History

The Meyer Theatre at 117 S. Washington St. in downtown Green Bay opened on February 14, 1930, as the Fox Theatre, an Art Deco and Spanish Colonial Revival house. After Fox Theatres' bankruptcy it ran as the Bay Theatre and, from 1978, as a movie triplex. A community campaign saved it from demolition; it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and reopened on February 27, 2002, as the nonprofit Robert T. Meyer Theatre, named for Green Bay businessman Robert T. Meyer after a lead gift from the Robert T. and Betty Rose Meyer Foundation. The roughly 1,011-seat house is managed and booked by PMI Entertainment Group. (meyertheatre.org/about/our-story; Wikipedia, Meyer Theatre)
