History
Miller Symphony Hall is the 1,100-seat home of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. The building opened in 1896 as Central Market and was converted in 1899 by architect J.B. McElfatrick into the Lyric Theatre. In 1959 Morning Call owners Donald and Samuel Miller backed the Allentown Symphony Association’s purchase, and the house became Allentown Symphony Hall; it was renamed Miller Symphony Hall in 2012. Since 1990 the association has raised about $12 million for renovations. (Wikipedia; Miller Symphony Hall mission-history page.)
