Mississippi Coliseum

1207 Mississippi St, Jackson, MS, 39202

History

The Mississippi Coliseum, at 1207 Mississippi Street on the State Fairgrounds, opened to the public on June 7, 1962, with Holiday on Ice as the first show. WLBT noted the original white roof and red-and-yellow sides, meant to look like a circus tent, and a 1990s renovation that toned that look down. Wikipedia lists the state Department of Agriculture and Commerce as owner, about 6,500 seats for basketball and up to 10,000 for concerts. It hosts the Dixie National Rodeo each February and the Mississippi State Fair each October.
