History
The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center at 2301 Flora Street in the Dallas Arts District opened in September 1989. I.M. Pei designed the hall, with acoustician Russell Johnson of Artec and structural engineer Leslie E. Robertson. It is named for Morton Meyerson after Ross Perot’s $10 million gift in 1986, which was conditioned on that name. The roughly 2,060-seat room is home to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and also hosts the Dallas Wind Symphony. It has an adjustable canopy, a reverberation chamber with 74 motorized doors, and the 4,535-pipe Lay Family Organ.
