The Swiss

1904 S Jefferson Ave, Tacoma, WA · about 120

History

Jack McQuade, Bob Hill, and chef Gail Bertagni opened The Swiss on Jefferson Avenue in 1993, when downtown Tacoma had few places for craft beer; McQuade and Hill had worked together at Engine House No. 9. The building itself had been a saloon since 1913. The pub became a live-music room for local bands and open mics as well as a restaurant. It closed in September 2020 after pandemic rules cut off bars and live music.
