History

Jack’s Draft House is the Hill Section pub at 802 Prescott Avenue, Scranton. The Times-Tribune reported the name dates to the early 1980s and honors Jack Colan, whose family had a long history with the building. James Harrison, who bought it from the owners of the 16th Ward, took over in 2017 and reopened in mid-September after a liquor-license transfer. Thursday nights are live sets booked by Roy Williams, including the local jazz group the Southside Five and players from New York. The bar also serves a dining room and an outdoor space called Jack’s on the Green. (The Times-Tribune, Feb. 4, 2019 and July 12, 2022.)
