Skinny Dennis

152 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY · about 120

History

Skinny Dennis opened in February 2013 on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, in the former home of Bar Berry, a room that had been a bar since 1939. Lucky Dog partners Sal Fristensky and Bill Mack built the honky-tonk, named for a country bassist who died onstage in 1975, and booked live country and roots music from the start. The wood-paneled dive, with peanut shells, a vintage jukebox, and Willie's Frozen Coffee, became a stop for touring Americana and country acts.
