Sam Bond's Garage

History

The building at 407 Blair Boulevard was an auto-repair garage put up between 1918 and 1923; Sam C. Bond, a mechanic and Eugene city councilman from 1930 to 1942, bought it in 1926 and ran the shop until 1972. In 1995 Mark Jaeger, Bart Caridio, and Todd Davis turned the former garage—most recently home to an environmental group—into a Whiteaker brewpub and music room. It booked regional and national acts, including Elliott Smith and Neko Case, and Esquire once named it among America’s best bars. The original owners closed it on December 1, 2025.
