History

The Plymouth Tavern occupies three 19th-century buildings at 1109 State Street in Erie, on the old Entertainment Row. The north and middle buildings once held a grocery and the Erie Cut Rate Medicine Store; the middle and south later held the Princess and Grand nickelodeons. Eckerd Drugs was headquartered there from 1935 for about 30 years. The restaurant opened March 10, 1973; Mike Haggerty was the owner by its 40th year in 2013. Both bars are mahogany coolers built by Tom Quinn fixtures, which occupied the site from 1965 to 1973.
