McMenamins Old St. Francis

700 NW Bond St, Bend, OR · about 120

History

St. Francis School opened in 1936 as Central Oregon’s first parochial school, the project of Capuchin priest Father Luke Sheehan, and taught kindergarten through eighth grade on the downtown campus until the school moved in 2000. Mike and Brian McMenamin, already known for turning old buildings into brewpubs and hotels, bought the property and reopened it in November 2004 as Old St. Francis School. Classrooms became guestrooms, the old lunchroom a brewery, and the campus gained a pub, more bars, a movie theater, and a soaking pool.
