Logon Cafe

History

Ed and Gytha Grissom started the Logon Cafe on January 27, 1997, at 3805 Calder Avenue, as a listening room where, Ed said, people would come to play and the crowd would actually listen. The checkerboard cafe mixed coffee, a computer-repair counter, and a stage, with karaoke, a long-running open mic, and bands leaning jazz, rock, blues, and folk. Grissom put the business up for sale in 2012 after hurricanes and road construction hurt receipts, but he said he would rather close than turn it into a rowdy party bar.
