History
The Beehive is a restaurant and live-music room at 541 Tremont Street in Boston’s South End, set in a former boiler room beneath the Boston Center for the Arts. It opened in 2007 and took its name from La Ruche, the historic artists’ residence in Paris whose name means “the beehive.” The bohemian room books live music seven nights a week, especially jazz, blues, soul, funk, and Latin, plus weekend brunch sets. The kitchen serves rustic American and Mediterranean-leaning cooking under executive chef Ryan Skeen.
