Murder by Death
Bloomington
Bio
Murder by Death is an indie rock band from Bloomington, Indiana, formed in 2000 by students including guitarist and singer Adam Turla and cellist Sarah Balliet, first under the name Little Joe Gould. The name comes from the 1976 film. Their gothic-country and indie-folk songs fill a run of studio albums from Like the Exorcist, but More Breakdancing through the 2025 record Egg & Dart. After about 25 years of touring they played a farewell run and kept annual residencies such as the Stanley Hotel shows and their cave shows.
