House of Large Sizes

Bio

House of Large Sizes, often called HOLS, was an alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, by singer-guitarist Dave Deibler, singer-bassist Barb Schilf, and drummer Dave Berg, all then students at the University of Northern Iowa. Their sound mixed pop-leaning alternative rock with hardcore punk, and later drummers included Mark Munn and Brent Hanson. Albums include One Big Cake (1989) and the Columbia-era My Ass-Kickin' Life; they broke up in 2003 and have reunited for Iowa shows, including 2023 sets at Octopus College Hill, the Cedar Falls club Deibler and Schilf co-own.
