Bio
BeauSoleil, often billed BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, is a Cajun band from Lafayette, Louisiana, founded in 1975. The name honors Acadian resistance leader Joseph Broussard dit Beausoleil. Michael Doucet leads on fiddle and vocals; the band plays traditional and original music rooted in Cajun and Creole tunes and has appeared at Lafayette's Tribute to Cajun Music and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. They won a Grammy for L'amour Ou La Folie and another for Live at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Their site shows the band with fiddles, accordion, and guitar, and they have been photographed at the Minnesota State Fair and the Philadelphia Folk Festival.
