Holy Joke

Bio

Holy Joke is a Chicago band assembled by singer-songwriter Greg Taylor. He recorded the 2023 EP No Way Home on his own; the self-titled follow-up, covered by the Chicago Reader in 2024, brought in guitarist Max Berg, drummer Jonah Penningroth, and bassist Mike Vendiola. The Reader heard the songs as wistful alt-country with Chicago references, and the band marked the EP at Cole’s and at a “Secret River” show on the Chicago River at Belmont. Reggies’ own artist note calls Taylor the singer and main songwriter of the Chicago group and points to americana, folk, country, and indie rock as his lane.
